Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the insertion of ultra-thin needles into the skin and muscles of the body at specific points on the body. By stimulating these points, acupuncture can treat various physical and emotional conditions by restoring normal function and balance to the various body systems.

Treatments are based on Chinese medical theory, diagnosis, and practice, a system of medicine that has been developed and practiced for over 4,000 years. Acupuncture can treat the symptoms you experience to help you feel better now as well as address the root causes to promote wellbeing and prevent symptoms in the future.

Your treatment plan may also include:

Chinese Herbal Medicine

Ali Ali Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese herbal medicine is often used in conjunction with acupuncture to restore balance. There are several hundreds of herbs in the Chinese pharmacopeia. Most come from plants and consist of roots, seeds, leaves, and flowers. Minerals and animal products are also included. Each herb is classified by its thermal nature, flavor, and action in the body. Chinese herbs are combined in formulas and given as teas, capsules, tinctures, or powders. If Chinese herbal medicine is helpful for your condition, Ali will recommend it as part of your treatment plan.

Gua Sha

Ali Ali Gua Sha

Gua sha is a traditional Chinese medicine healing technique. It includes instrument assisted unidirectional “press-stroking” of a lubricated area on the body. The repeated unidirectional press-stroking leads to the appearance of sha, also known as petechiae. Petechiae is a reddish-pink coloration on the surface of the skin that resolves in 2-7 days. It is said that gua sha moves what is stuck and resolves pain.

Moxibustion

Ali Ali Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medicine technique where the herb mugwort, Artemisia vulgaris, is burned on or near the skin to warm and stimulate acupuncture points. It is often used in conjunction with acupuncture or as a standalone treatment. Moxa can come in different forms, including loose wool, sticks, cones, and smokeless carbonized sticks. Moxibustion has been used for thousands of years and is still commonly practiced today.
