Can acupuncture treat preeclampsia?

acupuncture is an effective and natural treatment for preeclampsia

What is preeclampsia?

Pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH), also known as preeclampsia, affects 2.5-3% of pregnant women. While it doesn’t affect a large population of women, it is a serious condition. In addition to elevated blood pressure, it also refers to symptoms including edema, protein in the urine, and elevated liver enzymes. The exact medical cause of preeclampsia remains unknown. This condition must be closely monitored so that it does not progress into eclampsia. Eclampsia is a very serious condition involving seizures and possible maternal and fetal death.

What are the warning signs to look out for?

When pregnancy-induced hypertension is accompanied by severe headaches, visual disturbances, nausea, vomiting, or abdominal pain, your doctor or midwife should be notified immediately. These are signs that the condition is becoming more serious.

When should I start treatment?

Treatment should begin as soon as a concern arises about your blood pressure. When treatment begins at the initial stages, the result is a positive outcome. These changes include a reduction in blood pressure, reduced edema, and stabilization of liver enzymes. When treatment begins later, positive outcomes can still occur but may take longer to achieve.
